The Brechfa Forest West Community Benefit Fund exists to support projects that strengthen local communities, protect important places, and create long‑term benefits for the people who live here. The fund is designed to be flexible and responsive, helping communities act quickly when opportunities arise.
How They Helped the Railway Inn
When the Railway Inn was unexpectedly placed for auction, the community had only a short window to act. With guidance from Antur Cymru and support from the Brechfa Fund, the newly formed Community Pub Committee was able to move at the pace needed to secure the building.
The fund’s ability to make timely decisions — and the commitment of the panel members who met at short notice — meant the community could submit a successful offer and prevent the pub from being lost. Their support gave the village the chance to bring the Railway Inn into community ownership and begin planning for its future.
